RIP Harold Hems

Greatly, deeply saddened to learn this morning of the death of Harold Hems, my old maths teacher & a man who encouraged me in my study of wildlife, even if he never fully succeeded in drumming maths into my unwilling brain.

A formidable but humourous teacher, always ready to help those who needed it, & who genuinely cared about those in his charge. Also notable for his great skill at wildlife photography & discovering the West Runto Elephant with his wife, MArgaret.

RIP Harold "Honka" Hems. You leave behind you hundreds of pupils with fond memories of you.
